New Design for the Phoenix Viewer Website

I visited the Phoenix Viewer Website and noticed that they work on a new Design for the Website. Im nosy how it will look like.

Found a great Newbie Guide for Second Life

Today I was bored and explored the SLUniverse Forums. Found a Thread where someone show of the own Blog with somthing like a Newbie Guide. Well, Im not new to SL but I thought this is something pretty interesting to share:

Getting startet in Second Life

I think it should be very appreciated that SL Users who are already very familar with Second Life, share Informations for Newbies who start with SL. And thats why I just wanted to share the Link to this great Beginner Guide too.

Maybe some of you are new to Second Life and could need it. If not.. if you know already everything about Second Life, you still could share this Link if you know a Newbie or if someone ask you for beginner-questions. 🙂

Great Guide and thanks goes to Pussycat Catnap.

SL Collada Mesh Import Beta coming soon.. huh? Alarming?

Linden Lab announced in a new Blogpost “Next steps for Mesh Import” that Mesh Import is soon in the Open Beta. As I own a 3d application called Macon Cinema 4d wich supports Collada Files, I first would say “Woow great news! Mesh Import is not far away”. But on the other side I think this all this is pretty alarming. But why do I think so?

Well..

I could imagine if Mesh Import is going live that lots of peoples will grap some Files from TurboSquid or any other Website where you can buy or get free objects. This could mean that many mesh creators who did offer there stuff on any other website could get ripped off. And I think that it is safe to say that Linden Lab will get lot of more work because a real big bunch of DMCA troubles.

So from this angel its a bad news. Sure for mesh designers its a great news. But the “grab some mesh and import it” will bring much trouble this is safe to say. Its a great news for fair designers who did create the mesh them self.. but criminal peoples will exploit “Mesh Import”.. they just need to attend any mesh and upload it to Second Life.

Im sure the Future will bring much more trouble. And if you ask me.. why is Linden Lab working on these improvements? Shouldn´t they rather improve the Grid first and all the Grid Performance Problems? Im not a technical and dont know much about the technic behind the Grid but anyhow I guess that Mesh Import will bring more lag then we have already.

So.. yea.. I´m pretty unsure about this news. Yea.. I think it is fine but also alarming.

My SL Marketplace Sales are still poor

I noticed that my SL Marketplace Store sales are still very bad compared to my Xstreet SL Store sales. Even if I am still not happy enought with the fact that we soon have to use the new Marketplace it will be better anyway for us. At the moment we merchants have our customers splitted on two platforms. When Xstreet will close all peoples go over to the new Marketplace and then we dont have to monitor both platforms anymore. Lets hope that these changes dont affect our sales negative. At the moment I dont notice much sales on the new one but because Xstreet is still available, that could be the reasons as many peoples maybe still buy there and not on the new Marketplace.

Nice to hear, Phoenix Viewer made it!

I am pretty happy that the Phoenix Viewer is now on Linden Lab´s Third Party Viewer List. Congratulation to Jessica Lyon and her Team. 🙂

Emerald Viewer is now insignificant! The Phoenix Viewer is there!

As I already said in this Post: “Malicious Joy, Jealousy and so much more. Kid.. Choke on it!“…

And its right.. Every “End” is a “Beginning”. Someday there will be another complex Viewer like Emerald. Indeed maybe this Codebase will be used to produce a new similar Viewer.

And there we go…

Jessica Lyon announced the Phoenix Viewer on her Blog.

I’m am very proud to announce the launch of the Phoenix Viewer. This project, has started off simple, with it’s initial release of a safe clone of the Emerald viewer. Users want Emerald features, you shall have them. We have big plans to expand to the Snowstorm project as well. We have already applied for the TPVD, to which we have no doubt we will be accepted in a timely fashion. We have already started making in world groups for support, (Phoenix Viewer Support), beta testing etc. There is much more to do… however…

Jessica lyon assembled a team of developers to work on a new viewer called “Phoenix Viewer“. She said the new Viewer is developed and will be updated by Peoples who were originally Emerald developers, some who were not. She said they all are respected reputable residents in the SecondLife Community. She also said everyone on this team insists on 100% public transparency in EVERYTHING they do. Btw. LordGregGreg Back is in the Phoenix Team too, which means that the Emergence Viewer probably will not be updated anymore.

If you want to know more about the Team, all the Developers and the Viewer you should check out Jessica Lyon´s original Blogpost about that:

From the ashes….

And check out the Website (still in Progress) of the Phoenix Viewer here:

The Phoenix Viewer

So I am happy that the whole Story and Drama has an Happy End. Peoples who did like the Emerald Viewer because of the Style and Features now know where to go. There is no End.. there is a beginning.

Cool Minimal Music at United Beats – *CODE 415*

United Beats ClubToday I am arrived at the United Beats – Code 415 Club in Second Life. I must say I am anyway a great fan of Minimal, House and Electro Music. So I did arrived at a Location where I feel pretty good. There was a DJ called Cyberstar and he really did groove the crowd. If you also like this kind of underground Music then you defenetly should take a look at this Location. They played a lot of “deep stuff” there.  No mainstream. I often visit those Clubs in Second Life if I have enough time and I am pretty sure I was there already before. I think they did do some changes on the Location. I defenetly can remind Code 415 but the Club Enviroment changed I guess. All the Peoples I did meet there was pretty crazy. They had absolut cool costumes. Pretty Sci-Fi and modern. Well thats it.. Its a Tech-Scene so dont wonder. So my suggestion goes to Code 415. Check that Club out.

Thank you LordGregGreg! Now I can keep going on with my Favorite Viewer!

Yea I really need to thank you LordGregGreg. But not only you.. I also have to thank all Peoples who did suggest me to install the Emergence Viewer, which is a Clone because its the Emerald Source Code. I did try the Viewer today and didn´t see a difference to Emerald. Well sure.. as I said it is the Emerald Source Code. And now I am pretty happy.

You will find the latest Emergence Version 1.5.0.2 here.

Now we just need to hope that LordGregGreg will keep it up to date. But I am sure he will. Its just importend that this kind of Viewer stays alive. Yes, call me “Fangirl”. 😉

Malicious Joy, Jealousy and so much more. Kid.. Choke on it! (Emerald)

Second Life Kiddys<<— “Emerals is Gone !! (YaY)” These kind of Topics I found yesterday and today in differend Second Life related Forums. And I really ask myself what kind of Person you must be if you have so much malicious joy, jealousy and hate in your Heart. Its pretty amousing if I read those babyish Peoples who  wants to share ther spitefulness.

Right. Fact is that a huge amount of Second Life Users is now unhappy because ther favorite Viewer is History soon. They are Peoples who did decide for Emerald because the matter of Taste. Because there subjective Feeling is that it is the best Viewer. I am one of these Person who did use Emerald because it had Tons of Features which I cant find on a single other TPV.

As I said, Indeed it is a matter of Taste. Its all about Flavor. I wont say that other TPV´s are bad. I just say that for my requirments, Emerald was the best Viewer. Otherwise I wouldnt have used it for a so long time.

So now all these childish Peoples come out of there Corners and rejoice in there own mischievousness. And you know what? Those Peoples with pretty low requirements will soon see: “He who laughs last laughs loudest”. You really believe that Peoples now will go over to SLV 2.0? I dont think so. First of all Peoples like me will login with Emerald as long as possible. Which means so long if Emerald dont get access to the grid anymore because of LL. After this they probably will find another TPV instead of using 2.0 Viewer.

And its right.. Every “End” is a “Beginning”. Someday there will be another complex Viewer like Emerald. Indeed maybe this Codebase will be used to produce a new similar Viewer. Emergence is an example but nobody knows if this Viewer will be refined in the long run. But you can be sure there will be an alternative with the same amount of Features then Emerald has. Some Peoples will take the Code and improve it and make a new Viewer out of it (Sure without malicios code). Thats say “This is indeed not the End”. This is not how the World is turning. And let me see if these snotty littles still enjoy there malicious joy. Now I just can hope that these Trolls choke on the own gloating. Oh noes.. Did I curse now too?

However, Let these  little Drama-Queens and Drama-Kings choke on the own sounds of levity.

Have a nice day 🙂

PS: Get an impression what other Peoples think. Read all comments here: The End

Sad News: The Emerald Viewer Project is Dead

Arabella Steadham Announced on the Emerald Viewer Blog that there will not be any further releases of the Emerald Viewer after today.

Linden Lab has made demands of the team that are impossible to meet. Among the demands not listed publicly elsewhere was to publicly release an RC without any ability to load the emkdu or llkdu files. This was do-able. The final demand was to ‘delete’ 3 key members of our team. While making this demand, Linden Lab was quite aware that this was effectively the guillotine to the project.
