Lately some of my customers wrote me that they cant save the Confignotecard of Heart Tipjar in Second Life. But when the first Customer explained me the problem, I was not able to reproduce the error at least whith main Avatar which did create this Tipjar. But this is because this Avatar has full permission on this Item anyway.
I thought it would be better to check it out with my Alt. And see there… I wasn´t able to save the Notecard too then.
I got the “The server is experiencing unexpected difficulties” errormessage when saving a notecard inside the prim.
At the same time I asked google for the Problem and found out there is already a open Jira Ticket:
So if you anytime notice the same Problem with one of your Products or if you get customer request that they cant save your confignotecard then there is one workaround for you which will fix the Problem for your customers. Indee you should update your Marketplace listing then as well. 😛
You need to change at least the Confignotecard to FullPermission which shouldn´t be a problem for you. I cant tell you why the Notecard has to be FullPerm. I just can tell you it will fix the problem and other People commented the same on the Jira. It is anyway nevermind if the Confignotecard is Full Permission. I usualy did create them Copy and Mod only but now they are Fullperm.
So dont expect that LL will fix the issue. Looks like the Jira is open already for years.
However I did fix my Product and had a lot of work telling all my Customers of this Product to delete the old Tipjar so that they can use the new one. I think most of them were very happy that I did send a new Version. And I was also happy that one of my Customers did tell me about the Problem. Its fun to see that not anybody will report Problems. This makes me thinking if they ever did unpack the Product.. if they ever did login to SL again or what is wrong? 😀 This was sadly a Problem I could not see with my main. For the future I should test scripted objects from time to time with my alt. For new Products I do it anyway but looks like this Problem did appear since some month. I am sure I did not see this Problem with my alt when I created the Tipjar.
However. Everything ok now.
I found a nice first Direct Delivery Impression Article from the Beta Grid. Second Life Resident “Couldbe Yue” wrote a two Parts Article Series about Direct Delivery Beta and you defenetly should check it out as it will concern us Merchants real soon now.

Those peoples have stolen accounts and are looking for content creators as there target and will IM them things like “Hey someone has stolen your content” followed by a phishing link which looks like an official LL website. Once “Logged in” their user name and password have been successfully stolen and those scammers have a new stolen account!
So be very careful these days and tell your friends too so that those fraudster cant filch more accounts!

There is a latest news on the Firestorm Blog that they release Firestorm with Mesh Support now..
Due topopular demand we’ve decided we can’t hold back the Firestorm with Mesh support release, however this hasn’t been an easy decision. Unfortunately LL Mesh code comeswith a lot of new bugs and undesirable behaviors which we honestly aren’tcomfortable releasing with. Many of these issues we would consider blockersfora release. The issues which we wouldn’t consider blockers simply do not reachour expectations for a quality release. However, you asked for it! And you’regetting it in its current state!
But I suggest you read on the official Firestorm Blog:
So now the Gold sellers and spammers we know from other Games (MMO´s) like World of Warcraft are arrived in Second Life. The official Second Life Forum is full of “Buy Linden Dollars” spam.
So be careful… I bet you catch malware if you click on one of those links. And you know.. you just can get L$ from Linden Labs on the official Second Life Website. So dont buy L$ on any of these dubious Websites they spam in the Forums.

6. Make a copy of the “tipjarconfig” notecard and take it to your Inventory, just so that you have a Backup

the Duplicates will now have the same Settings.
You can also save your tipjarconfig in your Inventory after finishing your Settings. That is the way you can put
it back to a new rezzed Tipjar in case you did deleted every Tipjar from your Land. Good because you dont have
to make these Settings again. But be sure that you only have one tipjarconfig in your Object.
Q: The Tipjar is asking for Permission Debit. What the heck is going on? Can I trust you?
A: Yes, in fact you can trust me. Permission Debit is always needed in Second Life when a Script
want to take money from agent’s account. In the Case of Tipjar´s it is usualy so that your
Staff is logging into the Tipjar but you are the Owner of the Tipjar. If now someone (A Donator)
pays your Staff, the Money first goes through your Avatar and then to the Person who is logged
in to your Tipjar. So basicly the Script just ask you to get permission for this Function and to forward it
to your Staff or anyone who logged into your Tipjar. Anyway be careful in Second Life. Only give permission
if you trust the Creator of the Script you got.
FAQ will be extended in case many Customers ask similar or same Questions about one Topic

THIS PRODUCT IS MADE IN A 3D APPLICATION, WHICH MEANS IT IS

Just a short News to anybody who still dont know:
So as you can read in the Linden Labs Blog Post… Mesh has finaly completely arrived.
In a previous Blogpost, I told you already about 2ndhub. It is a Social Media Website related to Second Life and for Second Life Users. “Social Media” is probably not an unkown Concept for you. If not, then it is explained easy: Meet Peoples, Make Friends, Get known!
I think apart from making Friends inworld, lots of us use already Services like Twitter and Facebook to connect with Peoples who use Second Life. The basic problem is that Twitter and Facebook is not only used by Second Life Residents. So when we only want to meet and read Informations about Second Life, we need to filtering. But we do not have to do it on 2ndhub! And that is handy!
It doesn’t matter whether you want to connect because of Business-Reasons or because you just want to connect with Peoples from Second Life so that you can make new Friends. For each reason they have a Section and you wont be disturbed by one of them. The Layout is clean divided in Private Profiles and Business Profiles. That must be the reason why this Website becomes so interesting for differend Second Life Users.
Today I did read the Announcement that they reached 440 new Members in just 4 Days. I became nosy about the precise number of members and had to ask Mason Kingsford (Owner). He was very friendly to me and told me it is not a Secret! 2ndhub has today over 3100 Profiles which is in my Opinion very much. As we see.. it is doing well and I guess it will increase more. Many of us are already there and I just can suggest those who still dont have a Profile there, to hurry up! 😛
You can find a 2ndhub Tour here.
Thanks for reading.. oh and by the way.. You can find my Profile there as well. Just contact me if you like. 😉
I have some special Promo Offers running on SL Marketplace. You can check them out here if you like:
Markus Persson said this Week on the GDC 2011 “Piracy is not a theft” reported by Edge Online.
He said: “If you steal a car, the original is lost. If you copy a game, there are simply more of them in the world.” and “There is no such thing as a lost sale. Is a bad review a lost sale? What about a missed ship date?”
Persson’s advice is to “make a game last longer than a week” and to “treat game development as a service”. I think it is true if we take World of Warcraft or any other MMO as an example.
“You can’t pirate an online account,” he truth. I think this is not complete true.. There are already tons Pirare Servers for World of Warcraft and other MMO´s available.. in fact you could download a ripped copy of World of Warcraft and join one of the illegal Servers. But it wouldnt be a real Account from Blizzard Servers and thats why Markus Persson is true with this argument. And..
If Game-Companys offer constant content updates, Quality and a good service.. and if you need an online Account to enjoy this service… the Topic of Software Piracy gets irrelevant. You wont get those great content updates on a pirate software and if, then these updates will be very late. So if you want quality you will join the real Servers of Blizzard and pay for the service. And thats why legal Servers are more popular then illegal ones.
So the question is true… Is Software Piracy still a topic for those companys? I dont think so. For companys who offer games which arent account-tied, software piracy might be still a big deal. So “make a game last longer than a week”, “treat game development as a service” and “You can’t pirate an online account,” is a good advice. But I think most Companys learned it already.
Today the new Community Platform of Second Life is arrived.
Here is the Introduction by Torley Linden on YouTube:

Today I found out that Jessica Lyon did upload a Firestorm Preview on YouTube. Take a look here:
Linden Lab did publish the latest Second Life Economy Statistics for Q4 2010.
2010 ended on a positive note for the Second Life economy, with several key measures growing while others remained stable as compared to Q3 numbers.
Total money supply, LindeX volume, and web merchandise sales volume were all up between 6% and 8%, indicating growth in economic activity. Also, the L$ rebounded strongly from Q3, appreciating 3.7% quarter to quarter.
When comparing 2009 to 2010 measures, average monthly repeat log-ins were up 8%, average monthly economic participants were up 4.3%, annual web merchandise sales volume was up 104%, and the world size grew by 5.8%.
See all the graphs here.
Today I did publish The SL Daily Ledger .
So there you will find some top Storys about Second Life which are collected via my favorite Peoples on Twitter.
As a female I feel sympathy for all the males outthere who are searching for Male Fashion in Second Life. I can remember a chat with a friend how was swearing that he just cant find male fashion. I told him there is much male fashion but peoples most likeley blog , collect and share infos about female fashion. However I did understand his problem. I think male fashion is really more rare and there are not much websites which share the latest male fashion news.
As I said I feel sympathy for you males out there but today I found a new blog which could help you. Its a male fashion blog and maybe you should take a look there. 😉
Here it is:
You should hurry up download and install the new The Phoenix Viewer 188.8.131.525. 😉
The day has finally come!
The Phoenix Viewer 184.108.40.2065 is a Release Candidate because we want to be absolutely certain everything is how it should be. We are also aware that there are still a few bugs which need to be worked out and a few more things we want to add to it before we make it a final release. Although we are calling this a release candidate we WILL be providing full support for it and it can be treated as an Official Release.
Just go to the Phoenix Viewer Website and grab your lovely and latest Viewer Version:
Today I´ve got a notecard from Apez which tells me following:
As you may be aware, Apez.Vend is closing its doors soon, due to the liquidation of Apez. In order to keep your sales flowing, you will need to move to another vendor system. You can read more about this announcement here: http://www.apez.biz/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3083
To make this process easier for you, CasperTech have negotiated a deal with Apez to provide a fast, easy migration for your products, profit sharing, collections, customer and sales data to CasperVend.
(This message is being delivered by CasperTech with the cooperation of Apez, and is being delivered to you as an Apez.Vend customer. This is the only message you will receive from CasperTech about the vendor network, unless you opt to go proceed with the migration.)
HOW DO I GET THE MIGRATION KIT?
The migration kit is available on SL Marketplace at:
WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO DO?
Once the migration has completed, you need to move your items into a CasperVend Drop Box. This is available in the “free” box distributed with the migration kit (Don’t worry if you don’t want to use the free vendors, the dropboxes are the same).
You will also need to rez new vendors, and assign the profiles (which are collections ported from apez) to your vendors. To do that, rez a vendor, and click the “CasperVend” logo in the bottom left hand corner. (Choose a password or enter it if it asks you to). Then you’ll be at the vendor configuration page. If you look near the top of the page, you will see a “Profile” entry. Simply change that profile to the collection you want to use. If you want more than one collection showing in your vendor, you can then click “edit profile” and add other groups to it.
WHAT IS CASPERVEND?
CasperVend is a very fast, efficient networked vendor system for Second Life and other grids. It will provide many features that you haven’t been able to enjoy with Apez (such as sub-collections and detailed stats analysis), but also lacks some features of the Apez system (such as public franchises).
WILL I NEED TO BUY THE NEW SYSTEM?
No, the migration kit comes with a copy of our “free” bundle. This bundle will collect 5% of each sale as commission for CasperVend. If you would prefer, you can upgrade to one of the paid bundles which do not incur a commission fee.
WHAT WILL BE MIGRATED?
The following data will be moved automatically and instantly:
– Item information
– Texture information
– Product information
– Profit shares
– Item permissions
The following data will be moved automatically but not instantly, queued, likely available within 24 hours:
– Sales history
The following data will then be automatically generated from the sales data:
– Customer data
WHAT’S DIFFERENT WITH CASPERVEND?
You’ll notice several differences with our system.
1. CasperVend does NOT use a “man-in-the-middle” account for financial transactions. All vendor payments go directly to the creator.
2. Every CasperVend box and vendor uses just one script, to significantly reduce the lag impact on your sim.
3. CasperVend vendors scroll item-by-item instead of by pages. You can skip forwards by clicking on the preview panels.
4. “Collections” are called “Profiles” and “Groups” in CasperVend. Profiles contain products AND groups. Groups are like sub-profiles and contain only products. You can only assign ONE profile to a vendor, but you can assign multiple groups or products to profiles.
5. CasperVend is a lot more restrictive on affiliate vending and franchise vending. If you want other people to be able to sell your items, you will need to use our AffiliateVend plugin (available in the complete package or as an extra purchase) and give the affiliate vendors out.
6. Updates to vendors are fully automated and easy using our UpgradeBee.
7. Support is easy to obtain.
WHAT IF I NEED HELP?
There are several things you can do:
1. Join the “CasperVend User Support Group”, and send a message in there. I’d prefer this rather than IMing me directly, since this will allow others to see the solutions.
2. Join our forums at http://forums.caspertech.sl — you can use your CasperVend username and password to login.
3. Check out the CasperVend quick start guide on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baJCNBPBh0o&fmt=22
4. Contact myself – Casper Warden – and I will do anything I can to help.
I NEED X FEATURE, CAN YOU ADD IT PLEASE?
Most likely, YES! I am very proactive with adding requested features. The only thing I will NOT add – because I disagree with the business model – is man-in-the-middle transaction processing and public franchising.
If there’s a feature you’d like to see, please list it on the forums at http://forums.caspertech.sl/
So didnt we already know before? Apez support was so much horrible. I mean the whole system was not to bad in my opinion. I did like some features. But at least this is not enough. There was many problems. You maybe did see all the trouble in the forums over there. Or in the inworld groups. Peoples asked for money.. yea in some cases Apez did eat your Linden Dollars. Some day it did eat 9000 L$ from me.
So in my opinion it is good that this horrible story has now an end.
Now CasperVend have negotiated a deal with Apez to provide a fast, easy migration for your products, profit sharing, collections, customer and sales data. But why should we trust this new Label now? If you ask me.. no I wont trust the new Label. Im not even sure who is behind the new label. Maybe the same peoples? I dont know. Maybe you know more.
However. For me is the new label not interesting. Not even if its a total differend company.
That was a funny year full of Second Life Crysis. Didnt we have enought funny storys this year? 😀
Found a Blogpost of a EA employee who will be dismissed from Bioware Mythic during the next round of layoffs EA coming this November. Im not sure if it is true what this person is writing but at least lots of his words sounds true in my opinion.
Here you can read on: Why Warhammer failed
I told you in one of my latest Blogpost that I worked on a Phoenix Viewer UI modification.
This UI is called Minimalistic (Blue) and you can download it now direct out of your Phoenix Viewer.
Just open your settings and go to the UI options. Click on “get more” and choose “Minimalistic” and then “Blue” if you want to try that new UI out.
