Well, no problem!
Watch the latest Arabella comments on her Flickr “Login Failed” screenshots:
She act so silly.. Anyhow I dislike to quote her.. but on the other side I thought this here is more then funny:
“phoenix and emergence are based on emerald indeed, just been screwed up by incompetent people who cannot code”
What a Drama Queen she is 😀
As I already said in this Post: “Malicious Joy, Jealousy and so much more. Kid.. Choke on it!“…
And its right.. Every “End” is a “Beginning”. Someday there will be another complex Viewer like Emerald. Indeed maybe this Codebase will be used to produce a new similar Viewer.
And there we go…
Jessica Lyon announced the Phoenix Viewer on her Blog.
I’m am very proud to announce the launch of the Phoenix Viewer. This project, has started off simple, with it’s initial release of a safe clone of the Emerald viewer. Users want Emerald features, you shall have them. We have big plans to expand to the Snowstorm project as well. We have already applied for the TPVD, to which we have no doubt we will be accepted in a timely fashion. We have already started making in world groups for support, (Phoenix Viewer Support), beta testing etc. There is much more to do… however…
Jessica lyon assembled a team of developers to work on a new viewer called “Phoenix Viewer“. She said the new Viewer is developed and will be updated by Peoples who were originally Emerald developers, some who were not. She said they all are respected reputable residents in the SecondLife Community. She also said everyone on this team insists on 100% public transparency in EVERYTHING they do. Btw. LordGregGreg Back is in the Phoenix Team too, which means that the Emergence Viewer probably will not be updated anymore.
If you want to know more about the Team, all the Developers and the Viewer you should check out Jessica Lyon´s original Blogpost about that:
And check out the Website (still in Progress) of the Phoenix Viewer here:
So I am happy that the whole Story and Drama has an Happy End. Peoples who did like the Emerald Viewer because of the Style and Features now know where to go. There is no End.. there is a beginning.
Yea I really need to thank you LordGregGreg. But not only you.. I also have to thank all Peoples who did suggest me to install the Emergence Viewer, which is a Clone because its the Emerald Source Code. I did try the Viewer today and didn´t see a difference to Emerald. Well sure.. as I said it is the Emerald Source Code. And now I am pretty happy.
You will find the latest Emergence Version 188.8.131.52 here.
Now we just need to hope that LordGregGreg will keep it up to date. But I am sure he will. Its just importend that this kind of Viewer stays alive. Yes, call me “Fangirl”. 😉
<<— “Emerals is Gone !! (YaY)” These kind of Topics I found yesterday and today in differend Second Life related Forums. And I really ask myself what kind of Person you must be if you have so much malicious joy, jealousy and hate in your Heart. Its pretty amousing if I read those babyish Peoples who wants to share ther spitefulness.
Right. Fact is that a huge amount of Second Life Users is now unhappy because ther favorite Viewer is History soon. They are Peoples who did decide for Emerald because the matter of Taste. Because there subjective Feeling is that it is the best Viewer. I am one of these Person who did use Emerald because it had Tons of Features which I cant find on a single other TPV.
As I said, Indeed it is a matter of Taste. Its all about Flavor. I wont say that other TPV´s are bad. I just say that for my requirments, Emerald was the best Viewer. Otherwise I wouldnt have used it for a so long time.
So now all these childish Peoples come out of there Corners and rejoice in there own mischievousness. And you know what? Those Peoples with pretty low requirements will soon see: “He who laughs last laughs loudest”. You really believe that Peoples now will go over to SLV 2.0? I dont think so. First of all Peoples like me will login with Emerald as long as possible. Which means so long if Emerald dont get access to the grid anymore because of LL. After this they probably will find another TPV instead of using 2.0 Viewer.
And its right.. Every “End” is a “Beginning”. Someday there will be another complex Viewer like Emerald. Indeed maybe this Codebase will be used to produce a new similar Viewer. Emergence is an example but nobody knows if this Viewer will be refined in the long run. But you can be sure there will be an alternative with the same amount of Features then Emerald has. Some Peoples will take the Code and improve it and make a new Viewer out of it (Sure without malicios code). Thats say “This is indeed not the End”. This is not how the World is turning. And let me see if these snotty littles still enjoy there malicious joy. Now I just can hope that these Trolls choke on the own gloating. Oh noes.. Did I curse now too?
However, Let these little Drama-Queens and Drama-Kings choke on the own sounds of levity.
Have a nice day 🙂
PS: Get an impression what other Peoples think. Read all comments here: The End
Arabella Steadham Announced on the Emerald Viewer Blog that there will not be any further releases of the Emerald Viewer after today.
Linden Lab has made demands of the team that are impossible to meet. Among the demands not listed publicly elsewhere was to publicly release an RC without any ability to load the emkdu or llkdu files. This was do-able. The final demand was to ‘delete’ 3 key members of our team. While making this demand, Linden Lab was quite aware that this was effectively the guillotine to the project.

The Emerald Team announced a Public Beta. You can find the Announcement and Links to the Emerald Beta Viewer here:
I was bored of using any other Viewer for Second Life. I did miss several Features. I did decide to run the clean Emerald Viewer Beta Build 184.108.40.20673 now. So I am back to the Emerald Viewer now and I am happy! 😀
For all peoples who still trust the Emerald Team. Check out this Thread in the Emerald-Forums:
So I just did read this Post from the Emerald Blog:
So are you? However…
I hope they get the right Team and can work on making the Viewer socially acceptable again soon as possible.
I miss already a lot of Emerald Stuff. I miss the command line feature which lets you teleport high with “gth”, or teleport home with “tph” and so. I miss the possibility to change distance draw without beeing in the options. Dunno I miss so much.
Hope the Emerald Team get the things sorted and can make a new start.
Im still confused what to do now. I defenetly would like to use the Emerald Viewer again.
Yes I would give them a second chance. Its just that I did install several Viewers now and didnt find one which is a good alternative for my matter of taste.
Still using Imprudence at least this one is better then Viewer 2.0 for my subjective feeling. But I would like to be back to Emerald.
So you are Dev and not criminal? 😛 Hurry up and be a Emerald Dev so that we all can relax a good Viewer again! 😛
Got this email right now…
Dear Second Life Resident,
Late last week, we discovered a denial-of-service attack that was being served through the widely distributed Emerald third-party viewer. This is in direct violation of our third-party viewer policy (part 2, section d, paragraph iii).
We have removed Emerald from the list of third-party viewers, and are now in touch with the Emerald team to discuss what can happen next. We did this to do our best to protect the safety and security of Second Life users. We will not tolerate a viewer that includes malicious code, nor will we tolerate development teams with a history of violating users’ trust or disrupting their lives.
We take privacy, safety, and security very seriously, and we will act to the best of our abilities to protect it. We have not yet disabled logins via the Emerald viewer, but will do so if we feel the software and the team behind it is not able to meet the standards we’ve set. While Emerald is currently the focus of our attention because of what happened recently, all third-party viewers are held to the same standard, and must comply with the third-party viewer policy. If you have been using the Emerald viewer, for now we would encourage you to consider either one of the Linden Lab viewers, or an alternative third-party viewer.
denial-of-service attack that was being served through the widely distributed Emerald third-party viewer? Emerald?
Im not sure why I cant believe this.. but it seems I have to.
I hope all will be ok soon.. If they shut down Emerald Viewer.. what should I use then to login Second Life? Oh my GOD! Horror-Scenario..
I hope I dont have to use the Viewer 2.0 for the future. 😦
Just downloaded a new Version of the Emerald Viewer.. no I dont know if there is a new Version. I just wasnt up to date because the SL brake I had.
Ok then I did notice that they have a new Website here:
And I must say I like the style of the Website. Its so minimalistic but fine. I like this style. I mean what else should you see on this website? Right.. Most peoples first look for a new Emerald Version. And the first thing you see on this website is the “Download Button”. Easy .. and sweet!
You may wonder why I write about this.. I just dont like the trend that new Websites have to be overcrowded.. Its a trend I dont like.. Lots of Websites outthere which are overcrowded even if they just offer one single product. Yea on some Websites you wont find this single Product with the first hit.
So.. Great Emerald.. I love the new Website.. keep it simple but fine 🙂
